Jenn + Wil’s Sunset Photoshoot at Punta Xcalacoco Beach Club

When Jenn reached out to me, she shared that she and Wil had recently eloped, but they didn’t have any professional photos to document their special day. They wanted to celebrate their love with a sunset photoshoot and finally have some special images to remember their intimate elopement. We quickly scheduled a session at Punta Xcalacoco Beach Club.

A Rainy Start, But a Perfect Ending

As any local here in Playa del Carmen will tell you, rain can be unpredictable — especially during the rainy season. We had been dealing with weeks of gloomy weather, and I could feel the tension when Jenn mentioned her excitement for the shoot but also her concern about the weather. We kept in touch about rescheduling, but deep down, I was confident that the weather would cooperate, and we would get something magical.

And sure enough, the sun came out just in time, giving us the most beautiful backdrop for their shoot. The golden hour light was absolutely perfect for their session, casting a warm glow over everything. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful evening!

A Shy Husband? Not Anymore!

Before meeting Jenn and Wil in person, Jenn had warned me that Wil was a bit shy and reserved, which, as a photographer, is always something I’m mindful of. I believe in making every couple feel comfortable, especially when it comes to couples who may not feel as natural in front of the camera. Jenn had mentioned that Wil might take a little while to warm up to the photo session, but I love a challenge and was excited to help them capture their love authentically.

Well, let me tell you — Wil came ready to shine! He brought his A-game. From the moment we started shooting, he was completely open, relaxed, and engaged, making the entire experience so enjoyable. It was clear that he was fully present in the moment, and that natural connection between him and Jenn really came through in the photos.

The Magic of the Sunset

As we made our way down the beach, the sun began to set, casting vibrant hues of pink, orange, and deep purple across the sky. The light was breathtaking, and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. I love those last few minutes before the sun dips below the horizon—they’re always full of magic, and this night was no exception.

Celebrating Love, No Matter How You Say ‘I Do’

Jenn and Wil's photoshoot was such a special reminder that love doesn’t need to be a big, elaborate affair to be beautiful. They had already eloped in a private, intimate ceremony, but this session allowed them to relive the joy of their commitment to each other and celebrate their love in a personal and meaningful way.

It’s always an honor to be a part of such intimate and personal celebrations, and I’m so grateful that Jenn and Wil chose me to document their love story in Playa del Carmen. These images will forever remind them of the love, joy, and connection they share.
